Every
successful gambler knows that the world of the casino, both the brick
and mortar casino and the internet casino, is governed by odds. The
smart gambler also knows that in the vast majority of cases and in the
vast majority of games those odds lie solidly on the side of the house.
Understanding the odds, and remembering that the casino enjoys an edge,
is an essential underpinning of successful gaming.
Of course there are things the smart gambler can do to reduce, and in
some cases even eliminate, the edge the house typically enjoys. In card
games in particular, it is often possible to a combination of good
betting strategy and common senses to increase the odds of winning.
One of the most popular card games in any casino is the game of
blackjack, and it is at the blackjack tables than a great deal of
excitement can be found. In addition, the odds of winning in blackjack
are far greater than at the slot machines, and the edge enjoyed by the
house is quite a bit smaller.
Of course the goal of the blackjack player is to reduce that edge to
zero, or even to tip the odds in their favor. This can be done, through
a combination of solid betting strategy and good card counting. Counting
cards is a time honored strategy in the world of blackjack, but not all
players are equally skillful at it. Counting cards obviously takes a
good memory, and lots of concentration, so it is important for the
gambler to clear his or her mind of any all distractions and focus on
the game at hand. Distraction is one of the biggest enemies of gamblers
everywhere. |
